World mental health day in Georgia
Regarding to the World’s Mental Health Day, the Deputy Minister of Labour, Health and Social Affairs Zaza Sophromadze visited the trade exhibition of hospitalized psychiatric patients works. The Deputy Minister underlined the significance of mental health state programs and the importance of increasing social activeness in the people with mental illness. “There are special programs for mental health in our country. One direction of the program will also be further expanded by the next year. Psycho-social rehabilitation will be our priority for these people’s reintegration in society, " said Zaza Sopromadze. Today, the Deputy Director of Mental Health and Drug Prevention Center Nino Okribelashvili has been awarded with special diploma and honorary medal for contribution to the medical field development. The protection of mental health in workplaces is the main topic for The World Mental Health Day 2017. Inappropriate work environment can cause physical and mental health problems. According to the World Health Organization research, depression and anxiety disorders affect the world economy by 1 trillion dollars annually. The World Mental Health Day has been celebrated since 1992 and aims to raise public awareness of mental health.
