A conference was held on the World Hepatitis Day
Minister of Labour, Health and Social Affairs David Sergeenko on World Hepatitis Day opened the conference "Elimination of Hepatitis C - The Experience of Georgia". At the conference was acquainted the experience of Georgia in fighting against hepatitis C and was made gradual assessment of the unprecedented public health care project in the country.
According to the health minister, the menaning of project of elimination has gone beyond the scope of the country. "This project has become much more important because it’s in many countries’ area of interest. Representatives of health care system have come from different countries to see, study and utilize in their countries as best as possible. "
According to the US Ambassador in Georgia, C hepatitis elimination program is one of the most important, US-based projects implemented in the country.
"The Ministry of Health of Georgia and National Center for Disease Control are implementing this program, which aims to save lives of tens of thousands of people. Georgia is truly the leader in this case and the first country where the disease will be fully eradicated. There are representatives of different countries that share Georgia's experience, " said Ian Kelly.

The President of the World Hepatitis Alliance, Charles Gori, said that Georgia should become a role model for other countries - "That's what we need that the champion countries say - yes, we can. We hope that the example of Georgia and its strong political will is inspiring and promoting other countries to carry out immediate action for the elimination of viral hepatitis by 2030, "he said.
