Newborn hearing screening program is widening. 10 new equipment will be distributed in different medical institutions selected by appropriate criteria. The memorandum was signed today. The charity fund "AI-IA” donated 5 devices of screening and 5 device donated Humanitarian Organization " National Center for Hearing Assessment and Management" to the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health. Through medical inventory, screening coverage will increase by 65% across the country. Within the framework of the program, Japaridze-Kevinashvili Clinic will conduct trainings for specialists and facilitate further rehabilitation process for deaf people. Until now, the screening aevices had only 4 clinics throughout the country. By the end of 2018, hearing screening will reach 100% mark. With this amendment, Georgia will join the 15 developed countries of the world where universal screening of newborns is being implemented.
