Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia joined Global Campaign Against Gender-Based Violence.
Within the campaign, Deputy Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Affairs, Tamila Barkalaia, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze conducted information meeting with the women who survived violence and addressed the invited guests with speech. They focused on challenges faced by the women who survived violence and shared with participants information regarding state support services.
The audience was provided with information on their rights and gender equality. The preventive measures were put in focus. The event was held in interactive format.
Director of State Agency for Protection and Assistance to Victims and Persons Affected by Human Trafficking, Meri Maglaperidze dwelt upon state services for victims of violence and future plans. Head of State Employment Support Agency, Nino Veltauri focused on state programs supporting employment.
The campaign is aimed at raising awareness on violence against women and domestic violence.
Information meeting with the women, survivors of violence was conducted with support of the UN Women.
