June 14 is the Day of Protection of Rights of the People with Disabilities.

 

The Ministry implements various programs and services aimed at support of PWDs.

 

- By the decision of the Government, starting from 2023, the social package for people with severe visible disabilities and children with disabilities has been increased by 65 GEL, the amount of the social package for PWDs of other categories has been increased by 35 GEL.

- Every year, the State Implements State program on Social Rehabilitation and Child Care for PWDs, which provides beneficiaries with various services:

 

Assisted Devices subprogram is aimed at increased functional independence and social integration of PWDs and elderlies. The sub-program envisages support to PWDs employment,

provision with wheelchairs, provision with prosthetics and orthotic devices, provision with hearing-aids.

 

Subprogram on provision children with grave and severe disorders with home care;

Subprogram on specialized family-type service for children with grave and severe disabilities and health problems;

Early Childhood Development Support subprogram;

Provision of services at day centers subprogram;

Children’s habilitation/rehabilitation subprogram;

Deaf communication support subprogram;

 

-In order to support employment of PWDs, State Employment Support Agency provides supportive employment services which envisage seeking paid jobs and assisting in sustaining of the jobs for the PWDs.

PWDs can utilize wage subsidies, which envisage wage subsidizing at new or current vacant jobs for the PWDs through reaching an agreement with employers;

Forums with purpose of support to PWDs employment are conducted.

Accessibility to healthcare for PWDs is ensured through State Universal Healthcare Program.

 

The same program ensures provision beneficiaries with cochlear implants.
