
Zurab Azarashvili Participates in the Forum Organized by the Prime Minister of Japan
Zurab Azarashvili participated in the forum on importance of equitable access to healthcare services organized by the Prime Minister of Kapan in the US.
The Minister of Health of Georgia delivered a speech at the high-level meeting.
Zurab Azarashvili focused on importance of Universal Healthcare Program and development of primary healthcare services.
“10 years ago, the State made a commitment to reach universal access to healthcare services, to protect every citizen from health risks.
COVID-19 has created critical challenges in health systems globally. During this period, our efforts were directed towards fighting with severe outcomes of the pandemic from one hand and ensuring uninterrupted access to essential services, medicines and vaccines from other hand.
Georgia fully shares the vision on equitable access to medical countermeasures (MCMs). National response should be strengthened to improve health security for ensuring timely access to life-saving medicines, diagnostics and other medications.
Georgia National Health Strategy, 2022-2030 prioritizes development of primary healthcare, capacity building of medical personnel to create more robust health platform that will be better prepared and will respond to public health challenges”, - stated Zurab Azarashvili.
The Forum on equitable access to healthcare services were opened by the Prime Minister of Japan, KISHIDA Fumio. Heads of healthcare entities of various countries participated in the event. Co-chair of Gates Foundation, Bill Gates made a speech at the forum. He focused on global health challenges and importance of equitable access to healthcare.
Minister of Health of Georgia pays an official visit to the US, where he participates in high-level meetings within the framework of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.
